Terms of use
These terms describe the free DimeTrace website, accounts and contribution features.
Contracting party
DimeTrace is operated by Ing. Tobias Américo-Schmidradler, Linzer Straße 17, 4100 Ottensheim, Austria. You can contact the operator in German or English.
What the service provides
DimeTrace helps people compare living costs using structured household contributions and separately identified official statistics. Browsing, creating an account and contributing are currently free. There is no checkout, paid subscription or transaction between visitors and contributors. A future paid service would require its own price information and agreement before any charge.
Figures describe the available data, not a promise that you can obtain the same price. Contributions are self-reported, may contain errors and are not a representative survey. Approval checks plausibility and privacy; it does not mean that a bill or contract was verified. An official price index compares price levels and is not a household bill. Check dates, sources, what the amount includes and the comparison group before relying on a figure.
The site provides general information, not individual financial, legal, medical or housing advice. It does not determine eligibility for a subsidy, tenancy, insurance policy or public service.
Your account
Use an email address you control and keep sign-in links and codes private. Contact us if you suspect unauthorized use. You can browse without signing in; an account is needed to submit and manage contributions. These terms are available before you request an account or send a contribution.
You can end your use at any time and delete your account and contributions from the account page. Download any contribution records you want to keep first. You do not owe a cancellation fee.
What you may submit
Submit costs you actually pay or are authorized to report for your household, as accurately as you can. Choose the correct amount, currency, period and circumstances. Correct an error when you notice it. Do not submit invented prices, duplicate the same cost to influence a result, impersonate someone, or infringe another person's rights.
Do not include home addresses, coordinates, names, building identifiers, third-party contact details, diagnoses or evidence files. Choose only an offered district; do not describe one in a note. Health contributions are closed pending Austrian legal advice because even a cost can reveal health information. Do not use another category to bypass that restriction.
Permission to use your contribution
You retain any rights you have in your submission. To provide the service, you allow DimeTrace, without payment and on a non-exclusive basis, to store, check and standardize it, use it in comparisons, and publish and share group statistics under the privacy rules. This is not permission to publish your individual record, sell it or use your identity in advertising.
You can delete the original record. It then stops being used in newly calculated statistics; this does not retract group statistics that someone already downloaded or shared. Personal-data processing and your statutory rights are explained in the privacy notice and are not waived by this permission.
Review, restrictions and complaints
A human checks each submission before it can affect public statistics. We may reject a submission for an implausible amount, contradictory answers, identifying or sensitive information, duplication or an invalid date. An edit returns it to review. A public comparison also needs current approved contributions from at least five different people; a missing number can simply mean there are too few comparable contributions.
We may take proportionate action against unlawful content, manipulation or attacks on the service, including restricting affected content or abusive access. We consider the circumstances and the rights of the people affected. You can ask for the reason for a decision and request human reconsideration by email. Mandatory legal remedies remain available.
Sharing and source rights
You may link to public pages and use the site's sharing features. Keep source credits, dates and limitations with any shared figure. Official statistics and geographic data remain subject to the licence identified with the source; DimeTrace cannot grant rights belonging to another publisher. Do not attempt to identify contributors from the statistics or bypass access controls to obtain private records.
Availability and legal responsibility
Data and pages may be corrected, updated or temporarily unavailable. No particular price, future saving or uninterrupted availability is promised. Our liability is governed by applicable law. These terms do not exclude liability for intent, gross negligence or personal injury, or limit mandatory consumer rights and statutory remedies.
Applicable law and disputes
Austrian law applies. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, this does not take away mandatory protections of the law of your habitual residence where those protections apply. Statutory court jurisdiction remains unchanged; these terms do not require consumers to bring claims only in Austria.
Contact us about a dispute. The operator is not committed to participation in voluntary consumer arbitration; any duty imposed by law remains unaffected. Information about Austrian online consumer dispute resolution is available from the Internet Ombudsstelle.
Changes to these terms
The revision date identifies this version. A later publication does not retroactively change an existing agreement. If a change requires your agreement or advance notification, we obtain it or notify you before applying the change. Merely continuing to browse is not consent to charges or new personal-data uses.
